MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — Ten nonprofits were presented with $1,000 checks Tuesday from the East Cooper Medical Center volunteer organization.

The Volunteer Services Organization raises money each year to return to the community through donations, scholarships and providing medicine to patients in needs.

“It’s a privilege to make this donation on behalf of all the volunteers at East Cooper Medical Center. We value the work that each of these charities do each and every day and it’s an honor to help support their mission,” said Jan Ledbetter, President of the VSO.

The following organizations were each presented a check for $1,000: East Cooper Community Outreach, East Cooper Habitat for Humanity, Windwood Farm Home for Children, Lowcountry Orphan Relief, Eagle Harbor Ranch, East Cooper Meals on Wheels, Heroes for Fire Victims (American Red Cross), Crisis Ministries, Christian Medical Clinic, and Darkness to Light.
